First post hurrah!
I first encountered DS9 in the mid 90s when Quarks large and marvelous lobes grabbed my attention.
Never watched a single episode until 2008 Sheez was I missing out, now that I have discovered Star trek I am hooked! I rent the dvds thru the Seattle public Library which enables me to sit down and watch a whole season in a matter of days. After becoming familiar with the different characters, finishing my 3rd season of DS9. Its a fabulous journey experiening the drama the writers come up with. Definetly one of my favorite shows. A perfect blend of corny, serious, light, intelligent, and incredible talent is DS9
What are some of your fave shows and how do they compare to DS9?
How do you believe that DS9 sets its self apart from other versions of Star Trek ?
thnx!

From all the startrek series I like DS9 the best. The friendships between the characters are awesome and super nice to watch, as well as the fact that is a (more or less) immovable space station, so the story evolves around one place from the very beginning, allowing an even more nuanced world with a great variation of episodes. However, I do enjoy Picard, TNG and Voyager immensely as well. I think Picard is just an amazing character and captain who introduces many moral dilemma's and gives great speeches. Voyager has some great characters as well, like Seven of Nine, Janeway, Neelix and the doctor. (Both have many more, but these are some of my personal favorite). DS( is less strong in moral debate in comparison to the others I named. Also, the variety of species is bigger in TNG and Voyager which is also great and is a logical consequense of it being starships where as DS9 largely takes place on a spacestation.
