The Star Trek: Galactic Empires is a Star Trek Role Playing Simulation Group, who are dedicated to providing fun simulations within the Star Trek universe for people of all ages. We have been an active Role Playing Group for almost three years, although recently overhauled and regrouped so now we are currently seeking new simmers to join us!
What makes simulations different from your standard role playing is this; normal role playing uses dice, character sheets, statistics with the chance that your character may be lost in your travels and a game manager who lays out the overall settings. Simulations however are free form role playing in which your Commanding Officer creates a plot, and you as the simmer have your own character act on his/her own within the limitations of the story set by the CO. Your character can never die or be lost unless you choose for this to happen, and your characters actions (good guy, bad guy, dedicated to duties, not dedicated to duties, hobbies, interests, relationships) are entirely your choice.
To explain a little further, you create a character, choose his or her species, name, age and personality all for yourself without the limitations of character statistics. However, we do ask that you make sure you choose a species likely to be assigned to a Starfleet Vessel, or if not have a very good reason as to how your character became to be serving on board a starfleet vessel, and that you also make sure your character does not have abilities that would go beyond his or her species (ie: a human wouldn't have the telepathic abilities of a betazed). You are then taken through the Academy program and trained in how we sim, once that is completed you can assign your chosen character to any of our simulations (try to choose one that runs at a time that you will most likely be able to attend each week) from that point your characters career can really begin who knows, you may even make it to Captain one day!
